Collection Spring/Summer 2010 at NYFW (MillionLooks.com)

Image
DKNY or Donna Karan New York luunched its first line in 1989 and now through 21 years it doesn’t stop and show new line at New York Fashion Week in Greenwich Village. Trees grow in Brooklyn and flowers grow on the  DKNY  runway. Donna Karan named her new Spring/Summer 2010 line a “City in Bloom” and collection played pastels off a multitude of floral, consist of amazing small peonies and spray of floral-camo and bright prints that were definitely less so. Navy silk was adorned with floral prints and sequins, or monochromatic dresses shaped red graphic rose prints, also there were sash-waisted romper suits, black-and-white scribble-blossom skirt suit. Interesting idea as cycling shorts keek off from under the pair of tailored shorts or mini-skirt and flexible silk blazers and oversized boyfriend jackets were dressed with dailywear cuffed shorts or preppie tapered trousers made of chino. Models were chic and sporty, walked in urban neutral...

Dennis Basso Spring/Summer 2010 ( MillionLooks.com)

Image
Ball gowns and party  dresses  with full skirts by Denis Basso looked wonderful at  New York Fashion Week . It seems that this designer knows exactly how a woman should dress for special occasions: luxurious farbrics, interesting designs, gorgeous shoes and, of course, furs. "I’m an evening kind of guy,”  Dennis Basso  told about himself backstage before his show. “Cocktail is really my niche.” Dresses  from his collection  Spring/Summer 2010  with flirty bubble skirts looked very feminine, especially those of one-shoulder style and with python-bustiers. What I liked a lot were the flowers in patterns of materials and those seemed-rather-stiff ones attached to skirts. Flower design is surely back! All the models were wearing thigh-high sexy stockings, some of which were cleraly noticable under the shorter garments. The Sources is from www.MillionLooks.com

Carolina Herrera Spring/Summer 2010 (MillionLooks.com)

The  dresses  in her new collection are maximum feminine and sexy. She is one of those designers who makes her work great. And her  Spring/Summer 2010  line presented on  New York Fashion Week  catwalk is not an exclusion. Carolina Herrera ’s program notes clarified that the S/S 2010 collection’s initialing point was the involved forms woven in Japanese baskets. In this style were created strapless cocktail  dresses  with a body-con torso, over rigid petticoats and skirts. All accessories, textures, prints were selected from Eastern sphere. Colors are modified from natural palette of stone, beigeivory, spiced with terracotta, caramel, rose and gold. Designer presented grating-like silhouette in linen jacquard jackets and vests in silken raffia, girthed striped,  dresses  with trimmed-woven leather belts, gold silk and creamy fishtail gowns with metal fancywork and crystals. Anna Sui Spring/Summer 2010 (MillionLooks.com)

Image
The recovery from the financial crisis is felt in everything, not only the economy. Fashion for spring and summer 2010 is all about color and brightness especially when compared to dullness of the Fall/Winter designs. Anna Sui  has always sent her models down the catwalk wearing multicolored garments and this season is not an exception. Moreover, the collection is said to be “inspired by the circus scenes in  ‘Doctor Dolittle’ … very Sixties Victorian.” And some of the outfits do resemle the clowns’ ones. Lots of tones are mixed together in the most incredible combinations presented in front of a huge pink and black circus tent. A worth-seeing show! The collection includes  Anna Sui ’s signature short light ruffled dresses with small ‘walpaper’ prints, girlie blouses, military jackets and top hats, shorts and vests. Accessory line that attracted my attention hugely includes flowered headwear, beautiful bracelets, stylish ties in unusual combination with simple summer froc...

Anglomania collection

Image
Vivienne Westwood just presented her  Anglomania collection  during Berlin’s Fashion Week . As usual, we were wow’ed by the Great Dame of fashion. There’s no show like a Vivienne show! Vivienne’s spring/summer 2009 collection combines elements of punk culture with her latest vision inspired by Ancient Greece. Black tee-shirts bearing the word Berlin and decorated with 80s-style badges, vibrant shift  dresses , metallic puffball skirts and diamond-print bum bags were presented on the catwalk. Moreover, a puffball dress with buttoned bodice and sliced-open sleeves became one of the show’s highlights. The high-spirited collection, targeted towards a younger more casual costumer, was the ideal way to finish off the week. Bold colours, draped jersey, and loud prints, mixed with elements of Greek antiquity and Westwood’s punk roots. Vivienne opted for grape prints for a lot of items of her collection from casual white tee-shirts to the puffball dress. Westwood’s extravagan...
